If you thought July 23 was just another day, think again. Today we celebrate that all-American classic: the frank, the frankfurter the wiener . . . . the hot dog. Yup, it’s National Hot Dog Day. Whatever you call it, it’s got to be a part of kids’ meals, summer cookouts and backyard get-togethers. (In fact, it’s no coincidence that Hot Dog Day falls right in the middle of July, which happens to be National Grilling Month.) I’m pretty sure my 3 1/2-year-old would starve if we didn’t keep a package of hot dogs in the fridge at all times — when all else fails, you can’t go wrong heating one in the microwave, slicing it up and plopping it on the plate with a dollop of ketchup. Quick, easy, tasty. Nutritious? Well . . . . more or less.
To celebrate Hot Dog Day, you can get a couple of sweet deals on dogs today:
And at 7-11, you can get a Quarter Pound Big Bite hot dog for $1 all day long. (I’m sure you know where there’s a 7-11 near you.)
Enjoy, and trust me: unless you’re under the age of 11, it’s mustard-only — no ketchup!
