To celebrate their 100th anniversary, Mazda is giving away 50 cars to frontline heroes.
The company said they were specifically looking for people who
“tirelessly dedicated themselves to their communities throughout 2020”
by way of “selfless acts, creative thinking and contributions to community.”
They had to pick from over 1,000 entries from across the country of people
who they felt were able to capture the essence of “omotenashi.”
This is a value upheld by the car company, which means
to put others’ needs before your own.
Mazda felt three New York City residents were deserving of free cars.
The company just wanted to do its part in saying thank you to the people
who have been making this terrible year just a little less terrible.
