You’re funny—yes, we are! (info)

Researchers at the University of Colorado-Boulder thought they’d tackle the question: Which is the funniest city in the US? But…how do you measure ‘funny’? They actually came up with a formula,  looking at things like how often we look at comedy websites and how many comedy clubs we have.

After looking at the 50 biggest cities in the US, Seattle came in…wait for it…10th! Not bad for a place that others might call ‘dreary’ because they think it actually does rain here 360 days out of the year, eh? By the way, Portland got 5th! But they do have Portlandia.

Here’s the University of Colorado’s list of Top Ten Funniest Cities in the U-S:

1.    Chicago

2.    Boston

3.    Atlanta

4.    Washington, D.C.

5.    Portland, Ore.

6.    New York

7.    Los Angeles

8.    Denver

9.    San Francisco

10.  Seattle

You can check out their Top 50 list and all their ‘funny’ research right here. They also have a real “Humor Research Lab” where they probably look up real funny stuff – no joke! And because analyzing humor can take the laughing out of ‘funny,’ here is 7-year-old Sweet Pea’s favorite joke:

Sweet Pea: “Why don’t lions and tigers play cards in the jungle?”

Me: “Why?”

Sweet Pea: “Too many cheetahs!! (hahahehheh-uncontrollable kid laughter) Git it??”

She is hilarious.
