I couldn't believe this when I read it...a Volvo with almost 3 MILLION miles on it. Now that's getting your money's worth! The car is a 1966 Volvo P-1800 and it's owned by Irv Gordon from East Patchogue, New York.
Irv has owned the car since it was new and as you might expect, he's religious about maintaining his beauty. He also hasn't babied the car either. In the first two days after he took delivery back in 1966, he drove it 1500 miles! When you average out Irv's driving over the last 46 years with the P-1800, he's put about 65,000 miles a year on it. To put this feat in perspective, 2.9 million miles equates to 116 trips around the world, OR 6 round trips to the moon!
Irv holds the Guinness book of world records mark for the most miles on a single owner, non-commercial vehicle. He set it awhile ago when he hit 1.69 million miles and has added to it ever since. He expects to hit the 3 million mile mark within the next two years...GO IRV!
