VEGGIES!

It's getting to be that time of year again...time to start your garden. I used to have a large garden when I lived in Mukilteo, but I moved a few years back, and my present place does not have any room for an "in ground" garden. However, you can grow just about any veggie in a container!

My favorite container veggie (or is it a fruit?) is the tomato. I love eating tomatoes and growing them is fun. You can grow any tomato in a container. Just make sure you plant a stake or two in the soil and tie the vines as they grow. If you don't tie them, they will split and break. Even though the vines are more work, I love to grow cherry tomatoes. Cherries give you a lot more yield in my opinion and they are fun to eat.

If the weather stays good, you could start your container garden fairly soon. Just make sure you use good quality soil, use larger containers, get some tomato start liquid, and buy good quality plants. I would not suggest buying your tomato starts from a discount place. You want healthy plants with no disease, so I'd recommend going to a good greenhouse. Organic plants are the best in my opinion. I know a couple of great greenhouses just outside of Woodinville on the Woodinville-Redmond road. You can't miss them.

So happy gardening! Drop me an email sometime and let me know how your garden grows...
