I've tried so hard to avoid learning in advance what happened at the Olympics. I really love watching the competition in prime time without knowing what happened hours earlier. But it seems that no matter what I do, the news seems to leak out. It's more frustrating during these Olympic games than ever before to avoid hearing the results and I'm not sure why. I don't listen to sports radio at all during the games, and when I go to cnn.com or other websites, I quickly scroll down if I see ANYTHING about the Olympics on there so I don't spoil it. But today, the latest spoil sport was not a media outlet, but rather, a friend of mine. I was having a casual conversation with this guy, and all of a sudden he says..."did you hear that XXXX won the gold medal in swimming today?" After my jaw dropped, I told him that I really didn't want to hear that news. He was sorry, but once again, it was too late. So I think I'm giving up. I can't seem to escape hearing about who won no matter what I do. Outside of wearing earplugs and blinders all day long, there's not much else I can do. Suggestions will be gladly accepted!
