Our Manic Weather

Ah...spring time. The flowers, the birds singing, the grass growing...and THE RAIN. Yes, welcome to Seattle, home of Manic weather. The rest of the nation is experiencing a Spring time heatwave with temperatures in the low 70s to even the 80s! Here, we were treated to a rare "sunbreak" this afternoon, struggling to break 50 degrees. Our weather IS manic/depressive. It goes from great to lousy really fast. But you know that.

What you may NOT know is, we're kind of lucky here. Yes, we see more cloudy days than most anyplace in the country. But did you know that Seattle gets only 38 inches or rain per year? That's less than New York City (50), West Palm Beach, FL (61), and about the same as Dallas, Texas. Surprising, huh? It rains a lot of days...just not that much each day, I guess. But we don't have to worry here very much about hurricanes (West Palm), tornados (Dallas), or heavy snow (New York). OK, sometimes we get dumped on with some snow, but Seattle only averages 8 inches a year.

So, all things considered, our weather isn't THAT bad....is it? You'd tell me if it was, right?
