THE WATCH
You would think with a starring cast of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Jonah Hill, "The Watch" would be rolling on the floor funny. Not so much though, as the writers took a more raunchy approach to telling the story.
The basic story line is a group of guys, bored with their suburban existence, decide to form a neighborhood watch group after a security guard is murdered at a local store. The guys find out that the murder is tied into...an alien invasion. The movie tries really hard to be funny, and there's a good performance by British comedian Richard Ayoade, but there's just not enough to pull it off.
This is definitely NOT a movie you want to take young kids to see. There's too much crude sexual humor.
Remember the days when ANYTHING Ben Stiller did turned to gold? "The Watch" is definitely not gold. I miss the Ben Stiller from his "Meet the Parents" and "Zoolander" days. He is one of the funniest actors out there, but he definitely should make better choices when it comes to the movies that he makes.
Also opening this weekend is "Step Up Revolution." It's all about dancing "flash mobs" in Miami. It's supposed to have some really good choreography too.
