Phillip Phillips became the Season 11 American Idol last night. I think he deserved to win. He put on a fantastic performance the night before, especially singing his new original song "Home."
Jessica Sanchez easily could have won last night as well. She is an incredible singer with range who will make her mark in the music industry.
But Wednesday night belonged to Phillip. The show itself on Wednesday was really entertaining. And then the moment everyone was waiting to hear...Phillip had won. Going with tradition, he started singing his song "Home" to close the show. He got about 1/2 of the way through it, and then he completely lost it emotionally. He couldn't sing another note and he knew it. So as the song was winding down, he walked off stage and fell into the arms of his waiting family who surrounded him with their love. It was truly a very special and unique tv moment. I was crying, it touched me that much. Just a beautiful moment watching him with his family. Then he hugged the judges as the show was ending. The producers could not have planned a more perfect ending to the season. GREAT TV!
