We were at the Tacoma Freedom Fair yesterday. We all had a great time running the WARM 106.9 Family Fun stage AND meeting our listeners, who showed up in big numbers. I want to personally thank everyone who stopped by our tent and said hi.
After my shift, I stopped and bought a mini pizza from one of the restaurants that had set up a tent. It was the best pizza I've had in about a year. It was nothing special, just a pepperoni pizza in a box...but it was so delicious. It made me think...why does "fair food" taste so good? Is it because we're outside in the sunshine? Or is it because walking around these fairs and festivals makes us extra hungry? Or maybe it's all the smells from all the different stands blowing in the wind that whets our appetite. Or, that the food is cooked outside, maybe? Perhaps it's a combination of all of the above.
This isn't one of those unique situations either. It happens every time I go to a fair or festival. Hot dogs taste like filet mignon when you're eating them walking around at a fair. I don't know about you, but I eat things I normally do not eat when I'm at a fair. I'm not a big french fry person, but give me some fair curly fries and I'm in heaven.
I'd like your take on this. So why DOES fair food taste SO GOOD?
