The American Idol auditions have just started, and already, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are at each others throats. In a video that has since gone viral, Nicki and Mariah totally disagreed on the performance of one of the singers auditioning in Charlotte, N.C. The argument reportedly got so heated that at one point Nicki said to Mariah, "I'm gonna knock you out!" Easy girls! Time to play nice.
Some people are saying that the argument was staged as a way to create buzz on the show. AI has seen its ratings slide recently as they compete for viewers with other shows. Other singing competition shows like The Voice and X Factor have also diluted the uniqueness of American Idol.
AI comes back on in January, and it should be at least mildly entertaining to watch, if only to follow what happens between Nicki and Mariah. Stay tuned.
