2 BIG Premieres Coming Up This Sunday

Are you a fan of "Homeland" and "Dexter"...both on the Showtime network? If not, read on, and maybe you WILL become a fan!

First, "Homeland." This show debuted last year and it stars Damian Lewis (remember him in Band of Brothers?) and Claire Danes. You know, I've never been a big Claire Danes fan, but after watching her on Homeland last year, I have become one. She is a terrific actress. She had some incredibly difficult scenes to play, including one where she got shock treatments to her brain, and she handled them all. She handled all of her scenes so well, that she won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama series. Damian Lewis also won a Best Actor Emmy for his work on the show. If you've ever seen Band of Brothers, you know how great of an actor he is. In Homeland, Lewis plays Nicolas Brody, a POW found in the Middle East after he was presumed to be dead. Danes' character Carrie Mathison, is a rogue CIA agent who doesn't play by the rules. She suspects that Brody is a terrorist in disguise. She's the only one in the CIA to suspect him, and she's right. As season 1 ended, Brody has been elected to Congress and Carrie is in a mental hospital, dealing with a psychiatric condition and having shock therapy. Season 2 looks like it's going to be great, for this show which won an Emmy for best Drama. Even President Obama has said that Homeland is his favorite show.

"Dexter" has been a favorite of mine since it started a few years ago. Michael C. Hall plays Dexter, a blood spatter expert who works for the Miami Homicide Department. Oh, and on his night job, he's a serial killer who only kills bad people. His sister, Deb Morgan, is a Lieutenant at Miami Homicide. For most of the series, Dexter has kept his secret of being a serial killer private. Only his victims have known what he is. In the final episode last year, as Dexter was "doing his night job," his sister walked in and witnessed him killing someone. And THAT is how the season ended. Quite a cliffhanger, huh? Actually, Dexter is a show that ALWAYS has great cliffhangers, just about every season. It's won its share of Emmys over the years as well.

Both shows season premiers are on Showtime this Sunday. I'll be watching...will you?
