Want To Get Away For a Weekend?

Last week I took a few days away and we went down to Portland for a few nights at a place my wife picked out.  Good thing she makes these arrangements... it was a nice place.  (I would have chosen the Bed Bug Inn.)

Anyway, we went with the intention of seeing the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville, just south of Portland.  The home of more than 150 historic aircraft and exhibits, not the least of which is the Spruce Goose.  Wikipedia says it "is the largest flying boat ever built and has the largest wingspan of any aircraft in history."  Yeah, I'll say!  The wingspan is almost 320 feet and the diameter of the props are over 17 feet!

Honestly, it will take your breath away.

The museum is a wonderful tribute to the life and memory of the founder's son, Captain Michael King Smith.

This terrific complex of buildings and artifacts within is really worth a drive down, some weekend.  It's so close!
