Gina had been after me for literally years to give up the old cell phone for a so-called smart phone and today I walked a little too close by the kiosk in Costco and noticed the attendant was unoccupied. I stood, gazing at the assortment of different phones by the different manufacturers, the multitude of plans, rates, costs and just before I totally glazed over and walked on, I opened my mouth and that was the beginning of the end.
Before long I was signing the contract to extend what was already going on and left with two shiny new phones.
For the last fifteen minutes I have been trying to take a short sound file in my computer and transfer it to my phone as a ringtone. No dice.
Crazy thing is, this phone comes with thick booklets only lawyers can read and stay awake! One thin booklet on how to operate, at a glance, the features of this miniature computer that, oh yes, also is a phone. I think they call it a "Start Guide". There ain't no owner's manual with this thing and now I'm afraid I'm going to fry it, trying to customize it with my ringtone melody.
Thank goodness I'm going back to the store tomorrow with Jannelle and let Mr. Kiosk - a self-admitted geek - give us both a lesson in what I see are very cool features and conveniences to these gadgets.
I'll be happy to settle for that ringtone!
Update: I figured out the ringtone last night. :-) Baby steps!
