Enjoying the Great Outdoors

Jannelle and I just returned from a sunny day in Anacortes, where we walked the Tommy Thompson Parkway, a 3.3 mile paved and boardwalk trail that runs from March Point to Anacortes, including a mile-long crossing of Fidalgo Bay.

On that crossing there's a sign that alerts bike riders to be careful of potentially tire-popping shells that mysteriously litter the trail, which is far above the water. Then you witness a gull who just scooped up a clam, flew to the trail, hopefully away from the other hungry birds, cracks it open and glups it down, the mystery is solved.  There are many birds that make that bay their home in addition to harbor seals, otters and more.

Kinda hard to see, but you can barely make out Mt. Baker across the bay, just to the right of the Anacortes refinery.  Used my I phone for these pics.

It's a great hike (flat, too) for walkers, joggers and bicyclists!  Oh, and I couldn't resist a shot of the company's name on the side of the sani-can near the parking area!
