Two teens in a Brooklyn high school are apparently trying to transfer out of their school because of bullying, and those in charge at John Dewey High School are saying no.
Denied by an education official who said there's not enough evidence of physical abuse - just cyberbullying. The New York Daily News reports the students were told administrators at the school would resolve the problem, and the bullies were suspended for a week last month, but when they came back the behavior continued. Did they honestly think it would change? Can a leopard change it's spots? They reportedly chased the girls in the hallways, waited for them after school, chasing them home...and have posted on one of the girl's Facebook page threats of violence and "termination on sight"!
I personally hate bullying, having been the victim of it in middle school. Terrible memories... I was a big, clumsy, geeky kid back then. Had everything but the sign taped to my back saying "pick on me" and they did until one day when I planted my fist on one bully's jaw and dropped him. Back then I got no help from anyone and my heart breaks for these girls. There is no excuse for bullying and every parent should make it clear that behavior is so wrong. Problem is, bullies come from parents (or a parent) that bullies them, in most cases.
We need to love our kids totally and walk our talk.
As for the school officials and the two young victims in New York, they're reviewing the case.
