The annual music love fest known as Record Store Day began in 2007 as a celebration of the unique culture surrounding independently owned record stores in America and around the world. As is the custom on this day, independently owned records stores partner with artists and labels and celebrate the art of music with special releases and promotional products and events.
This year's Record Store Day happens this Saturday, April 21, with plans to celebrate by firing up the vinyl presses and cranking out some commemorative 7-inch singles and vinyl album reissues from not only the pop stars of today but also legendary artists like Paul McCartney, James Brown (Live at the Apollo), the Who’s Pete Townshend (the 2-LP Quadrophenia demos), and ABBA, just to name a few. Other collector items include the Breakfast Club soundtrack on white vinyl and the Pretty In Pink soundtrack on pink vinyl.
Over 1,000 stores are expected to participate in the program in the U.S. this year, with another 500 more participating worldwide. Learn more about this awesome occasion at http://www.recordstoreday.com.
