My friend Gary Finch in Spokane, a fellow 'motorhead' writes about a unique car with character!
"Here's my friends latest project here in Spokane. Dennis Murphy just finished his 1939 Packard Super 8 Henney hearse, and yes the car was equipped with this shade of electric blue mohair from the factory. When the sill plates were removed, the original mohair, that had never seen the light of day, revealed the electric cobalt blue fabric.
The car is thought to be a very early Henney hearse show car and it's the only Super 8 known to exist. Other Packard hearse, ambulance and professional cars were equipped with the 120 straight '8'. This car has many one of a kind features.
The car was discovered in Pennsylvania, shipped to my barn where it rested
with Studebakers and Nash cars for five years until the restoration started
about 10 years ago.
It's great to be inspired with such a nice restoration that is to die for.
Dennis will be selectively allowing people to rent the Packard to transport
their loved one from chapel to grave, for a fee. As a funeral director, his
side business is called "The Last Ride". So enjoy life and remember, it's
always better to be seen than to be viewed."
Thanks Dennis and Gary. You have 'urned' my praise! :-)
