Jannelle and I headed to Fircrest on Saturday for the first of what I'm sure will be many future car shows there to benefit the fantastic work done by Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County. I always thought Crime Stoppers was the tip line for catching crooks. While it is that, it is so much more!
They have a rescue vehicle program where they collect and deliver emergency rescue vehicles to communities throughout the United States and Mexico. Surplus ambulances, firetrucks, and police patrol cars are donated or sold to their program at greatly reduced prices from local public safety agencies. Local businesses and trade schools donate their time and services to refurnish these vehicles for delivery to small towns lacking emergency vehicles.
Since 2007, volunteers from Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County have partnered with the Marine Corps League to coordinate the Toys for Tots program in Pierce County.
This year, Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County began working with schools in Pierce County to provide musical instruments to underprivileged students... and so much more!
My friend, Larry Andren, now retired from the Tacoma Police Department (but certainly not from life) is busier in his retirement than when he was working full-time!

This car show and fund raiser was his idea and next years will only be bigger and better. Great job, Larry! The man is truly an inspiration to all who know him.
