Many of the causes of premature birth are still unknown. The March of Dimes has launched a major new research initiative to find the causes of premature birth. We are creating a network of five Prematurity Research Centers. Two centers are already at work, with hundreds of researchers working as a team to uncover the causes of premature birth.
Kangaroo Care is skin-to-skin contact between a baby and mom or dad. It helps babies stay warm, regulate their heartbeat and gain weight. Spreading the word about Kangaroo Care and providing training could save the lives of thousands of premature babies worldwide.
