Staff Favorites

If it weren’t obvious already, the Warm 106.9 staff loves the holidays! Here’s some of our favorite holiday movies and music from our favorite time of the year:

Allan Fee, Morning Show Host

Favorite Christmas music: I love all of the classics. Bing Crosby’s / White Christmas is my favorite. To me, it a holiday must. My Mother also had Elvis’ / Blue Christmas in heavy rotation during the holidays. She was a big Elvis fan. Both of those songs take me back to a very special time growing up.

Christmas movie; I lived in Cleveland, Ohio for several years. A Christmas Story was filmed there and is fondly remembered there. Almost everyone i know there has a leg lamp from the movie. I’ve been to The Christmas Story house. It’s a huge attraction in Cleveland during the holidays.

As a kid, i loved Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town. An all time classic. I still watch it every year!

Ashley Ryan, Morning Show Host

My favorite Christmas song is Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas

My favorite Christmas movies are Love Actually & Polar Express

Shellie “Jingle Bell” Hart, Midday Host

My favorite Christmas movie?  Hmmmmmm, I have several actually.  Start with “It’s A Wonderful Life” and “Scrooge”, something about those timeless storytelling black and whites that I can watch over and over again.  My ABSOLUTE faves are the Holiday Specials like “Rudolph”, “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” and “A Year Without A Santa”.  Those send me right back to my childhood and the songs in those shows are some of my holiday favorites like “Mr. Snow Miser/ Heat Miser”  song.  LOL!!!   The one that makes me laugh, “ELF” of course!

“Holly Jolly” AJ, Afternoon Show Host

My Favorite holiday movies are…Christmas Vacation is #1, A Christmas Story, The Grinch, Home Alone, Elf, Santa Clause (Tim Allen)

My Favorite Christmas songs are…Jingle Bell Rock in general but especially the Hall and Oates version also ElvisPresley/Martina McBride’s version of Blue Christmas and any version of Rockin’ Around the Christmas tree.

“Santa” Kaz, Evening Show Host

Favorite Movie – The Muppet’s Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas –  I can not get in the Holiday spirit till I watch it

Favorite Song  – Brenda Lee, Rock-in Around the Christmas Tree, My Grandmother would brake out this classic on Vinyl and have everyone dancing!

Jennifer “Tinsel” Taniguchi, Director of Marketing & Promotions

My favorite Christmas movie would have to be Miracle on 34th street. We all want to believe in Santa Claus! It’s really hard to pick just one favorite Christmas album so I am going to give three, The Carpenters Christmas, Neil Diamond’s Christmas album and N’Sync’s Christmas album!

Erica Roney, Account Executive

My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story. I think everyone can relate to Ralphie’s character in that at some point in their lives, there was that one gift that they couldn’t live without. Mine was back in the early 80’s and all I wanted was a Cabbage Patch Doll. I got it, but it was nearly lost when someone tried to steal it out of my mom’s cart at Toy’s R Us!

Favorite Song: Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland. Nobody can sing it better than Judy!

Diana Clark, Receptionist

My favorite holiday movie is “It’s a Wonderful Life” because is depicts what is truly important in life (Our family).

My favorite album is the John Denver Christmas album and my favorite song on the album is “Christmas for Cowboys” because it talks about how the simple things in life are so much appreciated if you just stop long enough to look.

Dianna “Dreidel” Rose, Weekend Airstaff

No question, no competition… “White Christmas”.  It was a tradition in our family to have a special meal Christmas Eve and watch White Christmas on tv (we had the video, yes it was video in ‘those days’).

Maya “Kalikimaka”, Weekend Airstaff

My favorite movie is Scrooged and my favorite Christmas song is Song for a Winter’s night by Sarah McLachlan!

Kate Daniels, Public Service Director

Favorite Christmas story! “The Polar Express”. This I have ‘memorized’ and it’s great to tell it as though this was my experience, my life. I did this years ago when my niece and nephew were little kids, and they were mesmerized–eyes as huge as saucers! Chris Van Allsberg creates pictures that make the experience come alive in our imagination. This one is great for all ages.

Now, for a special story for adults–“A Cup of Christmas Tea” by Tom Hegg and Warren Hanson. This is a story of the heart, of the value of relationships in our life, about the real gift and message of Christmas. It hopefully encourages us to take time, make time for the special people in our life.

Favorite movie: “It’s a Wonderful Life”. It’s a classic and I have to watch it every Christmas, and sometimes even during the year, because the message about the value and importance of each life is so perfectly captured in the story. I think I actually prefer the black and white version.
