NBC has scheduled a very special event tonight.
The network-along with affiliates Bravo, CNBC, E!, G4, MSNBC, Style, Syfy and USA will telecast "Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together", a telethon hosted by Matt Lauer that will raise money for the American Red Cross's relief efforts across regions hit by the storm. We'll get the tape delay in the NW, airing at 8 pm tonight, the event takes place at 30 Rockefeller Plaza and will feature such acts as Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Sting, Christina Aguilera, Jimmy Fallon and of course New Jersey native Jon Bon Jovi.
Jon was in London when he got the call, and IMMEDIATELY jumped on a plane and headed home. He walked the streets of his home town, comforting his friends and family and those on the Jersey Shore. "To see your hometown devastated like this and people that I grew up with (pause), my grammar school turned into a shelter, people's homes gone and saying to me we are now homeless. These were hard-working blue collar people." (interview on TODAY SHOW).
We love Jon Bon Jovi, and his fan base in the Northwest runs deep and this one of the many reasons why. He's genuine and real.
Count on MORE celebrities joining the telecast this evening, as we all rally to help our brothers and sisters affected by this storm. - Shellie Hart
