The Fifth Edition of the Official Scrabble Player’s Dictionary will include 5,000-plus new words, including bromance, frenemy and selfie. This marks the first time that the game’s bible, created by Merriam-Webster, has been updated in nearly a decade. The new additions “go a long way toward bringing us closer to the language as it is currently spoken,“ said John Chew, co-president of the North American Scrabble Players Association. The new edition, which is bound to horrify many, goes on sale Wednesday.
