A stunt has been approved for this year’s family favorite, Fishermen’s Fall Festival at Fishermen’s Terminal in Seattle. The USCG Chopper rescue was cancelled per Blue Angels syndrome. Another rescue idea comes now involving The Seattle Fire Dept. A Hook and Ladder rig (Tiller and Aerial now retired) that was used in a special 2 hour episode of the NBC hit series EMERGENCY. In 1978 the series was brought to Seattle to do an episode involving Medic One and SFD. Squad 51 with John Gage and Roy Desoto would ride along to various emergency calls throughout the city.
One scene involved this Kenworth Aerial fire truck that was active duty at the time. The crew of Station 10 handled a call at the KINGDOME to help rescue a man hanging near the top inside the Dome. The ladder of this rig was extended to reach him, almost 100 feet high.
Saturday this legendary Tiller and Aerial will again reach the sky. It’s being used for “The Great Fish Ladder Giveaway” and they’ve asked me to be the “stuntman”. At 230pm Saturday at the festival I will be sent up high on the ladder, a first for anyone of Seattle Media. I will then cast a fishing line to a seascape of name cards below. Wherever my fish line lands will determine the winner of this giveaway. So100 feet is 10 stories or the first level of the Space Needle where they host parties and special events. It’s Free Admission for everyone to the festival this Saturday 11am-6pm. The event here will be around 230pm. Come watch this rare experience and see how high I really go (East of Chinooks near Net Storage at Terminal…. firstname.lastname@example.org
