The Real Reindeer of Washington State, Come See Them....

What a great outing for the family! The Oak Creek Feeding Station was an idea created many years ago to take Winter stress away from many Elk (Trophy size too), Deer and Bighorn Sheep, yes we have them too! When the snows are deep in the Cascade Mountains these animals are challenged in finding food.  From December to late February you can bring your family to this site for a close up view.  On a given day you can see these animals in large numbers (hundreds!) grazing here for fresh hay.  Thanks to efforts of the Washington State Fish And Wildlife Dept. and the many folks who purchase fishing/hunting licenses, Trail permits and so on  each year.  To find this location.  Travel over White Pass (Highway 12) going east.  You will see a junction of Highway 12 and Highway 410 about 20 miles before Yakima. Turn onto Highway 410 heading west and you will see the sign if not Elk everywhere!    From Yakima, Just go west on Highway 12 about 20 miles.  bring the family!  The Animals are just now showing up after this weeks heavy snow. You can do this trip in a day with good weather.  I've done it a few times.   mark@warm1069.com
