Whew! That was close, Asteroid Day today (Feb 13, 2013) for 2012 DA14. NASA says today it passes within 17 million miles. That’s close enough to ride along side TV and Communication satellites buzzing around the Earth’s orbit. Scientists have been watching this rock for some time. They say its size is around that of a half a football field. They also say that it contains many metals and propellants that here on Earth would be very valuable. If you had a way to capture this Asteroid and land it safely here on Earth? This rock would be worth almost $195 Billion in today’s market.
