Mark's List of Halloween Haunts around Seattle

Through exploring around Seattle over the years I have learned of “active” haunts around the area.  Most offer public access or through an organized Ghost Tour.  These are fun as you will experience sounds and sights even I can’t explain in most cases.   I have personally discussed these haunts to confirm of their existence with experts, just in the last year.

Kell’s Irish Pub-Seattle, is actually the backside of the original location of The Butterworth Funeral Home of the early 1900’s.  Mr. Butterworth was involved with a nurse at a local hospital who promoted starvation as a quick fix to any illness.  Many patients died under her care with the bizarre claim of starvation. She was able to gain power of attorney for many of her patients and Butterworth was making good money in the care of all bodies.  If you drive on 1^st Ave at Virginia you will see an old stone entrance to a building, that’s it!  A few restaurants have tried to establish business there but the starved ghosts have taken control and still do to this very day.

Former Amazon Building-Seattle, just up from I-5 to East I-90 there on the hill to your right.  The big tall brown building was once a hospital with a morgue.  Perfume of a nurse and strange sounds often are reported.

Fort Worden State Park near Port Townsend.  “Officer and A Gentleman” was filmed there.  One of the buildings was involved long ago with a couple of men in the military who murdered a fellow officer for his wallet.  They disposed of the body in the boiler room of the building.  His ghost is still seen often around the area of those historic buildings and there is also a woman ghost often seen near the lighthouse on the point (Point Wilson).

Organized ghost tours are also found at Pike Place Market and at Ye Old Curiosity Shop on the Seattle Waterfront.  Both have been featured on the TV series Ghost Hunters because of the steady “activity” reported.
