This big bad boy is the #8 Tree that we set up at the house (It’s a hobby for Karen and I). We don’t buy gifts for each other, just pay the power bill. This tree holds over 100 lbs of decorations (4 large tubs) and 7000 lights! The tree was found at Costco in Issaquah almost 6 years ago. It was the month of July and there was a clearance area where we found it. So many laughed at us in the parking lot as we walked out in the bright sunshine with summer items, food and these two oversize box’s of tree! It’s 6 sections tall. For years all of our trees were Fresh cut, but then we had drying out issues. Like Westlake Center, we had to move into artificial trees. That is a boat on my ceiling, another story for another day.
The Seattle Tree at Westlake Center? Yes, it’s still dark (lights and music out of service). It was brought to my attention Saturday of Thanksgiving. Then I had another call on Sunday. Monday there was a story on Ch 7. It’s now Wednesday and still no answer. Sources tell me that Westlake is trying to connect with the vendor/tree owner. They have been absent and calls have not been returned. The website claims that it is top priority to have the tree operating ASAP.
This is the first year of having a Artificial Christmas Tree in Seattle. We also have a new light/musical system for the tree. City light contacts tell me that perhaps the circuit was not checked before this was all plugged in.
