I was asked to help Alaska Air provide a Sea Tac Tour for passengers with special needs. As we taped the segment all day I saw many things that delayed those traveling around me. I then realized how this information may help you and your family. It’s called plan ahead. “Know Before You Go”
Parking at Airport: Take Light Rail is still best or have someone drop you off. My fee for parking for 8 hrs was $24
Check In: Have photo ID for everyone in group (children in your care are fine) along with Tickets ready. Remember baggage fee and they want Cash in most cases not a Card or Debit.
TSA-Checkpoint Security. Don’t be scared. They want to help you. Place your shoes, Coat, Laptop/Device and belt in bins. (Guys put Wallet in bag here) it’s safer than alone in a bin. Know fluid levels for personal items. No water bottles.
Do the walk thru and relax (no jokes!)Watch your time. Know your Gate area before wandering off for food and restroom. Grab snacks/beverage before flight and most you can take with you. Don’t booze it up in the bar as flight attendants are able to prevent you from getting on board. If there are errors in tickets or flight plan don’t have a meltdown. They will do what they can to accommodate your needs. Don’t have attitude otherwise you will raise a red flag and will be “on the scope” as they say.Enjoy the travel and smile at your seat. You will get better response and cause reason for conversation(s)

karin1224 - I mentioned that you taped a segment for traveling with special ***** - can you please send me a link to that? My special ***** daughter and I are flying to Salt Lake City and I'm a little stressed trying to figure out how I am getting her and her stuff through TSA and on the plane. She's in a wheelchair, ***** a car seat, and has liquid meds. I've traveled lots with my family, but never solo with her.
Thanks!
