SCENTS CAN SPUR HOLIDAY SPENDING? What fun for this week after such a Apple Cup last week. Get this! New research shows that along with lighting and music, certain scents can inspire shoppers to spend more money. Washington State University found that simple scents, like pine or citrus, are powerful motivators for spending because they don't require much mental processing. This allows the shopper's brain to focus on shopping. For the experiment, researchers concocted one simple scent and one complex scent and found that consumers who shopped while smelling the simple scent spent on average 20-percent more money than those that smelled the complex scent, or no scent at all. Okay, confused, did we miss something? If your a Husky perhaps you need to read this a few times. I had my first POOL win with this years Apple Cup. I'm a 50/50 for Team support. I have family and friends of both campuses. It's the one who host's Apple Cup game day that decides what jersey I wear?
