Late night host Jimmy Kimmel pays tribute to retiring late night host David Letterman

Whether y0u were a Letterman fan or not, pretty much everybody doing a late night talk show now will tell you how David Letterman influenced them. Conan, Fallon, and Kimmel have all mentioned how they owe their careers to Letterman in one way or another. And on the eve of Dave’s final broadcast, Jimmy Kimmel took some time for an especially heartfelt tribute. Watch him choke back the tears as he describes his devotion to the show as a kid, and the story of how he got his own show on ABC after appearing on Letterman’s show:

In case you haven’t heard, the final Late Show with David Letterman is tonight (Wednesday.) Jimmy explains that his Wednesday night show will be a rerun, and he urges his viewers to watch Dave’s last show instead. ABC might not be too happy about that, but it’s a classy move.
