My Tour of Washington

...Ocean Shores that is for a short little getaway as I discover more great places here in Washington State!

Thanks to my host family the Claytons, I had a really nice time exploring the upper peninsula of Gray's Harbor- from Ocean City all the way south to the North Jetty. I've never seen such a beach location with man-made canals and lakes to compliment the ocean and bay experience. Plus, the wildlife lives in close proximity!

Even with a less-than-stellar forecast, plenty of vehicles were driving on the Pacific Ocean beachfront while 10-20 foot waves crashed the shore non-stop during lowtide. Razor clamming season is variable weekends during this time of year...so maybe you should come out next weekend?!

After a lil fun at Quinault Beach Casino, I had the best clam strips of my life last night at Bennett's Fish Shack in Ocean Shores. On the way back today, we came across Lytle's Oyster Shack just 6 miles northwest of Hoquiam. Amidst the mountains of shucked oysters in a perfect seafood setting, I had my 1st ever raw oyster shooter & now I love 'em!

I'll make it back to Ocean Shores in the summer months for maybe some crabbing and actual swimming! Keep checking back here on my blog for where I'm going next...
