There’s been speculation and rumors for months about which singer would do the theme song for the upcoming Bond movie Spectre. Would Adele do it again? Ellie Goulding? Ed Sheeran? Radiohead? Those names were all floating around. Another name that kept popping up was Sam Smith, and now he’s confirmed it — The song’s called “Writing’s On The Wall.” he wrote it, recorded it, and is releasing it at the end of September, about a month before the movie comes out.
Sam tweeted a big tease yesterday when he showed us a picture of his hand wearing a ring with the Spectre logo, and this morning he spilled it:
This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it. You can pre-order 'Writing’s On The Wall' on CD or vinyl using the link on my profile, or on iTunes from midnight.
He also showed up on a BBC Radio morning show to break the news himself:
Now the big question is: When do we get to hear this masterpiece?
