I can’t stop being NERDY! And now I know why (list)

Do you enjoy watching the original Star Wars movies over and over, dressing as Princess Leia (or Luke Skywalker) every Halloween and getting your tickets to Emerald City Comicon the moment they’re available? Then you’re a NERD too! And it’s no wonder we like living here — we’re among our people! Washington is ranked SIXTH in the nation for “The Nerdiest States in America,” according to the real estate website Estately.com.

So, how did they figure that out? They looked on Facebook (of course) to see what percentage of people in each state like things like Star Trek, Cosplay (if you don’t know what that is, you’re not nerdy enough), Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons, Lord of the Rings and comic books, among other geeky things.

The Top 5 are:

1. Utah

2. Alaska

3. Wyoming

4. Idaho

5. Colorado

You can check out the rest of the rankings and stats here. Here’s what they said about us in Washington:

“Given that Microsoft and numerous other tech companies are headquartered there, it’s no surprise Washington state is a beacon for nerds. In fact, it’s only a matter of time until most Washington companies drop Casual Fridays for Cosplay Fridays. In addition to programming prowess, Washington state residents are passionate about Lord of the Rings—2nd highest in the country.  It’s actually a little surprising there aren’t more local children named Frodo, Legolas, and Gandalf.”
