Hey, Bainbridge Island: Don’t even THINK about eating cheese on Blue Friday

The Seahawks are vying with the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship on Sunday, right? Green Bay’s in Wisconsin, and Wisconsin is known for its cheese, right? We call those folks Cheeseheads? They wear those big foam rubber wedges of cheddar on their heads at Packers games?

Well Doug Schultze, the City Manager of Bainbridge Island, doesn’t want to see any cheese in his jurisdiction on Blue Friday, so he’s issued an executive order that bans cheese from Bainbridge Island City Hall on Friday. Here’s the fine print:

Section 3. Due to the relationship between the Green Bay Packers, their fans, and cheese, the possession of and/or consumption of cheese or cheese flavored products shall be banned in Bainbridge Island City Hall on Friday, January 16, 2015.

That’s right — no cheddar, no brie, no Havarti, no Cheetos. (Wait, you may get in on a technicality there — is there any actual cheese in Cheetos?)

You can read the entire proclamation here.

I’m just relieved to know the Bainbridge City Manager has solved every other problem on the island so he has plenty of time to ban cheese!
