Help keep Seattle dancing!

As a dancer (mostly on the weekends now), this is the worst news EVER. Westlake Dance Center, one of a few places where adults can drop in and try all different kinds of dance – jazz, ballet, hip hop, belly dancing and more – may be closing, and just the thought of that possibility breaks my heart.

The building near Northgate that WDC is currently in is slated to be taken down in January 2016, so studio owner Sheri Lewis is looking for a new dance space in Seattle. Some big-hearted dancers have a crowd-funding campaign going on too, with a goal of raising $150,000 for the move.

If you’ve ever seen “So You Think You Can Dance,” “America’s Best Dance Crew,” Macklemore in concert or countless other shows and performances with dancers, you’ve likely seen someone super talented who trained at Westlake Dance Center.

If you can help, Westlake and every dancer whose ever set foot in its studios, would appreciate it! Click here to donate.

Or you can go to a class and see how cool Westlake Dance Center is for yourself! Let’s help those dance doors open!

About Sue Romero

Sue Romero has been doing news and traffic on the radio in Seattle since 1994. She is originally from southeast Alaska and moved to Seattle to go to the University of Washington. After graduating, she started her radio career in Houston, Texas, but moved back to Seattle because she missed the trees, hills, water and beauty of the Pacific Northwest. While she was in Texas, Sue danced on the NBA Houston Rockets Dance Team and still regularly takes dance in Seattle. She even attended a Seattle Sea Gals workshop, just for fun! Sue loves movies -- especially sci-fi!
