On Race day, we come together at Seattle Center not only to have fun, but to raise funds to find cures for the most aggressive breast cancers and improve outcomes for those who face barriers to care.
Race for the Cure starts at 8 a.m.
Hundreds of pink-clad breast cancer survivors take part in the Survivor Parade, an inspiring Race tradition. Following the parade are the 5K run and walk events, including a kids’ run and the Paws for the Cure dog walk.
Sign up early to get a t-shirt
It’s easy via www.komenpugetsound.org starting in mid-January. Race t-shirts are available to the first 5,000 registered participants. All participants receive a Race bib, and those who identify as survivors during registration receive a pink survivor t-shirt and bib. Timing chips are supplied to those who register for a running event.
Paws for the Cure Walk
Your dog can come along for the fun when you register for the Paws for the Cure 5K walk! A Race bib and pink bandana are included with your dog’s $25 registration fee, which must be purchased as part of an adult walker registration. Only one dog is permitted per adult walker registration.
Form or Join a Team
Having a team increases the impact and the fun you’ll experience as part of Race for the Cure. You can form or join a team in honor of a loved one, at no extra cost. Plus, teams are eligible for prizes and incentives not available to individual participants.
Fundraising is easy
When you register, you receive your own fundraising web site to be customized and shared with others, who can then make donations on your behalf. Race for the Cure has a great list of resources to help you achieve your fundraising goals.
Why We Race
Komen’s new bold goal is to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the next decade. When you fundraise for Race, together we progress toward that goal by accelerating lifesaving research, along with critical screenings and patient resources for those who don’t have access to the services they need. With your support, we can reach our vision of a world without breast cancer.
Donate or volunteer
Even if you can’t walk or run, you can support the breast cancer fight by making a general donation or by giving through a participant or team. Visit www.komenpugetsound to find out how. If you are looking for volunteer opportunities on or before Race day, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
