Osborne sure keeps herself busy! She’s releasing her eighth studio recording Love and Hate (April 2014) via her new worldwide record deal with Entertainment One, partnering and crafting music with The Holmes Brothers, working on her side project Trigger Hippy (featuring members of the Black Crowes) and recently completed project that includes a dance performance set to her own original music and choreographed by renowned NYC choreographer Lily Baldwin.
Regarding her partnership with The Holmes Brothers, Osborne says, “I knew when the time was right and my voice was ready, I wanted to make a recording like this one.” That recording is Bring It on Home (2012), a collection of vintage blues, R&B and soul songs that was Grammy nominated in the Best Blues Album Category (2013). It’s an apt title—for Osborne, Home marks a return to her musical roots. “I cut my teeth in New York blues clubs, singing songs like this,” she remembers. Despite her long history with the music, it was only recently that the singer felt like she was ready to put some of those standards on record. “There’s a texture and richness to these songs that singers don’t have right away, that I didn’t have when I started out,” she says. “But the more I’ve done this, the more tone and depth I’ve developed. This was the time.”
