Singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen was born on November 11, 1985 and grew up in Mission, British Columbia. When she was young her father sang her to sleep with classic James Taylor songs.
In 2007 she was a contestant on the reality television show Canadian Idol. She was inspired by pop singer Natalie Imbruglia’s works, and performed her acclaimed 1997 song "Torn" on Canadian Idol.
Jepsen took a place in the pop music scene in 2008 debuting her album, Tug of War. The album featured two acclaimed singles, "Bucket" and "Tug of War." By February 2012, Jepsen produced her second album, Curiosity. The song "Call Me Maybe" on the album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart. The song rapidly became a pop-culture sensation.
