5th Annual Families Thanksgiving Food Drive
On November 11th 2012, local resident Sharon Kneip, Allison Trull, and their crew start their annual seven day mission to feed families in need. It’s the 5th Annual Families Helping Families Thanksgiving Food Drive, and they are hoping that their fundraising challenge will collect almost 3,000 meals this year, doubling last year’s amount, and matching their all-time number.
A few major accomplishments over the past year include:
- Over 3,000 families and approximately 12,000 individuals served
- 100% of proceeds and collections go to the cause
- More than 300 volunteers in 2011
- Children in our community were given at least one more thing to be thankful for
The 5th Annual Families Helping Families Thanksgiving Food Drive is to take place at the Downtown Bellevue Safeway, November 11th-18th. Kneip and her team have invited the Bellevue High cheer squad and football team to come along and join in the fun at the food drive, which has already received support from Impact Sports Performance in Bellevue, local Boy Scout troops, and several loyal followers in the community.
The Families Helping Families Thanksgiving Food Drive is a grassroots charity effort which strives to provide full traditional Thanksgiving meals for families in need. Focusing specifically on those who do not qualify for outside aid, but still have to face the decision of what they can give up in order to feed their children. Kneip is hoping that her efforts will allow 5th Annual Families Helping Families Thanksgiving Food Drive to ease their decision making, and give these families something to be thankful for.
