EASY Dog Biscuit Recipe!

“I don’t cook.” A phrase I’ve said dozens of times to holiday hosts as I shoved an elaborate floral arrangement into their hands.

A phrase that’s technically true, minus the part that I CAN cook. I just don’t.

Baking, however, is a totally different beast. I LOVE baking. My Grandfather owned and operated a bakery for decades. He immigrated to the US to spend the first half of his life working toward the American Dream. Even though he passed when I was a toddler, I feel proud of him and a connection to his passion when I’m baking.

Because I’m a Dog-Mom, I wanted to share an EASY dog treat recipe with YOU! Maybe you have dogs, or you want a create some special gifts this holiday for your dog-loving friends!

I have a Bake-A-Bone. It’s basically a waffle-iron for dog treats that runs between $15-$20 on Amazon. A traditional Waffle Iron or a muffin pan in a 400 degree oven is the next best option.

Sweet Potato Biscuits

1 1/4Cups Whole Wheat or White Flour

1 1/4 Cup Water (OR lowfat Milk ONLY if you KNOW your dog can tolerate lactose)

1/2 TBS. Baking Powder

1 Cup Mashed Sweet Potato

1 Egg (Beaten)

Pierce sweet potato in a couple spots. Microwave for 6-8 mins (flip over halfway) until insides are soft. Cut in half. Use soft inside. Discard skin. Mix ingredients together, bake for 15-20 mins. Flip over about 3/4 of the way through. If your dog likes a crisper exterior, pop on a baking sheet for a few mins to finish! Cool for 30 mins. Refrigerate. Enjoy within a week!

AboutHeather

HI! I have a dog who sleeps in a cat tree and a cat who comes when he's called. I'm fueled by coffee, music & optimism. Things like yoga and gardening fill my warm weather weekends. I strongly believe that mini golf IS a sport, words are weapons and beauty exists in the spaces between definition. Ask me anything...Except regarding Fight Club...I won't talk about Fight Club.
