Summertime! The weather, the freedom...oh and the boredom! Not mine or yours, we are talking about the kiddos. After you have exhausted your list of things to do, here are a few
suggestions and links to some other fun summer activities:
Make a summer reading list of books your kids should read and a list they want to read. Set aside reading time & schedule it during the hottest part of the afternoon. As they complete the 'should' list, they get to read the 'want' list.
Have them plant a very small garden and tend it. Even one plant can be enough.
Go exploring in a local park or beach and see who can discover the neatest stuff. Bring a container to collect an interesting bug, an unusual rock or leaf. Take it home and look up what it is.
Get a inexpensive set of paints, watercolors or chalks. Bring your supplies to a park and let them get creative.
Libraries and bookstores offer daily & weekly classes for kids & families.
Many parks have new water features to play in and around, and special summer events.
Happy Summer!
