Growing up, my first real job was to keep my room clean and get my homework done. Each June signified the end of school for the year, the beginning of Summer, and Strawberry
season. We had a patch of strawberries a neighbor had shared with us and they grew like crazy, producing more berries than we could eat, freeze or share. And we ate those berries morning, noon and night! So I would sit out on the road, much like a kid with a lemonade stand, and sell the extra berries. It only amounted to a few dollars a week for the 3 weeks that our berries produced, but it was fun and I learned all about growing and tending to the plants, and the many ways to enjoy their tasty berries. That is why I am so excited to attend the Marysville Strawberry Festival this weekend-looking forward to yummy strawberry treats!
