Household name

Facebook. And with that, Mark Zuckerberg has become a household name. But have you ever heard of Eugene Polley? You should know the name since you probably use a version of one of his designs every single day. He created the "Flash-matic" remote control, the push button radio for cars and a predecessor of the DVD.

He also received an Emmy from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 1997 for "pioneering development of wireless remote controls for consumer television."

Eugene Polley, inventor of the TV remote control, has passed away at age 96.
