Dance Studio where Macklemore’s choreographer teaches could use your help

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis probably don’t know it, but they have Westlake Dance Center to thank (in part, at least) for their backup dancers and choreographer, Anna Matuszewski. She is a fiercely talented dancer and teaches Hip Hop at Westlake Dance Center.  (She’s the one right behind Macklemore in the pic below)

But the Westlake Dance Center studios near Northgate in north Seattle have to move because the building they’re in is being torn down soon. To raise money, they’re having a Dance-A-Thon this Sunday, September 27th, from 10am to 6pm. It really just means you can try as many classes as you want, and it ends with a big dance party!

Many dancers who trained at Westlake Dance Center have gone on to dance for artists like Macklemore, Britney Spears and have been on TV shows like “So You Think You Can Dance” and many more musical tours and onstage performances. They are sad to leave their current studio, but are in process of leasing a really amazing space at the Old Rainier Brewery in South Seattle. They just need some help turning it into a viable dance studio. That’s where you can help!

Even if you can’t dance you can always donate:

About Sue Romero

Sue Romero has been doing news and traffic on the radio in Seattle since 1994. She is originally from southeast Alaska and moved to Seattle to go to the University of Washington. After graduating, she started her radio career in Houston, Texas, but moved back to Seattle because she missed the trees, hills, water and beauty of the Pacific Northwest. While she was in Texas, Sue danced on the NBA Houston Rockets Dance Team and still regularly takes dance in Seattle. She even attended a Seattle Sea Gals workshop, just for fun! Sue loves movies -- especially sci-fi!
