AWESOME ALERT: Ellen Got HBO To Air A Dying Comedian’s One Hour Special.

Quincy Jones is a dying amateur comedian whose dream is to do his own one-hour comedy special. He did a Kickstarter asking for $4,985, and it caught the eye of Ellen DeGeneres.

She had him on her show last week, and after his appearance the campaign raised over $50,000. Quincy was back on “Ellen” yesterday, and she had a surprise for him. She talked to HBO, and they agreed to air the special.

Ellen also said that Shutterfly was giving him another $15,000 to help cover the production costs. The special is taping next month, and HBO will air it sometime later this spring, but there isn’t an airdate yet.

Quincy was diagnosed with Stage Four mesothelioma last July, and told he had a year to live.
