Ashley’s Morning Scoop 1.7.16

The 15th and final season of American Idol premiered last night. As usual there were some good and some bad. One of the highlights was 25 year old Joshua Wicker, singing Rihanna’s “Stay.” A lowlight had to be Joseph singing Lionel Richie’s “Hello” along with the Yodeling chick. Oh, and Kanye West showed up too….obviously.

Speaking of American Idol, Adam Lambert topped Forbes list of highest earning American Idol’s for 2015, beating out Carrie Underwood, bringing in $10 million because of his tour with Queen. Carrie was 2nd, followed by Chris Daughtry, Phillip Phillips and Kelly Clarkson and Scotty McCreery tied for the 5th highest earners.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now the highest grossing domestic film of all time, overtaking Avatar, just 20 days after its release. It’s earned $758 million in the US and it’s 1.5 billion worldwide, putting it 4th on the all-time list.

The People’s Choice Awards were last night; Favorite Movie Actor was Channing Tatum with Sandra Bullock being voted Favorite Movie Actress. Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie honors went to Furious 7. Vin Diesel accepted the awards and paid tribute to his late friend Paul Walker by singing “See You Again.”

Favorite Male Artist was Ed Sheeran and it’s no surprise that the Favorite Female Artist was Taylor Swift.

Ellen Degeneres won Favorite Daytime TV talk host along with the award for Favorite Humanitarian…….
