Are you a procrastinator? Here’s where to mail your last-minute tax return

Not that you’d actually put off doing your taxes until the very last minute, but just in case, there are two post offices in the Puget Sound area that will accept your tax returns right up until midnight of Tax Day:

Tukwila Station, 225 Andover Park W. in Tukwila

Tacoma Mail Processing Center, 4001 S. Pine Street. (The collection box is on S. 42nd Street on the south side of the building.)

There are also self-service kiosks where you can buy first-class postage and certified mail at other post offices all over the place. FYI Those kiosks only accept debit or credit cards. Find one of those near you here.

You want to put the right postage on your return, or all that hard work will be wasted and the IRS will send it right back to you. First class postage is 49 cents for the first ounce and 21 cents for each additional ounce, and if you’re sending a big pile of forms and stuff, you might well be talking about several ounces, so maybe err on the side of putting a little extra on there.

Here are some tax-mailing tips from the US Postal Service.

Good luck . . . and now, start thinking about how you’re going to spend that refund.
